A friend of mine did (with a little help from myself).

Cross compiling and remote debugging is not that easy, so he installed 
Lazarus on the BeagleBone and it works fine.

To access it from a PC VNC seems a good solution. As VNC installs it's 
own X-Server, you can deactivate  the Video software and hardware on the 
board to save memory and memory bandwidth.
