[fpc-pascal]Why is FP Win32 Version running and compiling much slower?

My operating system is Windows 98. I found that the Win32 Version of F.P runs much slower than DOS Version, no matter compiling or typing in programs.What cause this difference? The Memory?

Except for the compiling mode and memory parametres, are there any other greatest differences between win32 version and dos version?
