[fpc-pascal]return from exec ?

Hello fellow listmembers

How do I run an external command (on linux) and get the result from that
command into a array

the command, i want to get the data from, returns x lines of data, and
cannot be persuaded to pipe into a file

Earlier i used to 'exec' a command, and pipe the output into a file, and
then read the file into an array.......
But not this command
