I sent this to the wrong bloody list, my apologies everyone. My brain
isn't too bright at the best of times, and it's 1AM here. I must have
forums on the brain, I couldn't figure out how to respond to a single
message within a digest without editing 3 separate messages. Ah well.
Goodnight!

Actually, that's a good point - with so much more control and comms
options, a hacker could conceivably do more damage to a forum than to a
listserver! I guess that's the same as saying I could do more damage with
a baseball bat than with a twig :)
Given the same constraints and variables, a forum server is just as
difficult to hack as the same listserver. And unless the admin login is
encrypted, remote access theoretically gives more opportunity to gather
plaintext logins. Mind you, so far there's been little evidence of hacker
email account access via this method, despite hundreds of millions of
mobile webmail users. But then, it's just a matter of time before that
happens! (I have very low opinions of hackers (speaking as an ex-member),
but much higher opinions of their persistence).
These are all areas that need discussion, security-wise.
