NTP client service doesn't explicitly change the system time in one
shot. This could cause all kinds of problems. Instead they slow down
or speed up the system clock over a set period until it matches the
correct time from a NTP server. Thus no other services with have weird
(out of sync) timestamps. At least, this is how Linux's NTPD client
service works.
