I have rebuild fpc 2.4.2 for Mandriva some time ago:

http://magnifier.sourceforge.net/tmp/fpc-2.4.2-1mandriva.i386.rpm

It should work fine in PCLinuxOS and SuSE too

You can try to install this package instead of the default one.
