If you have a small example of that, could you add it to

I also had that feeling, but Michael could not reproduce it.

http://www.stack.nl/~marcov/fpde.zip is a working windows (but GTK) version
that I saved at some point.
What I can remember about that is sb showing some initial version of lazde,
and in the discussion about it, Sebastian said he was dropping fpgui/fpgtk,
and that was pretty much the end of fpde.
