To me, this counter spells 'This project is unstable'. There's no 
permanent link to a stable release and a commit counter, which suggests 
there's no stable release and that users should use the git version. 
There's also no link to a beta or release candidate release. How are 
users supposed to find the latest stable release, and the latest beta or 
release candidate?
