Skip the debate and use your own vision and judgement to do it well.
Most developers are geeks and are no experts in attractive web sites. You
apparently have knowledge and skill in your family. You even get funding.
After you publish a new web page, some people will give feedback and more
ideas. Before that a forced empty debate is just a waste of time.
