Thanks a lot or the great explanation.

So there are good reasons to stay with the status-quo (unless doing a 
completely new versatile and straight forward String implementation that 
exceeds functionality and "mind" Delphi allows, but this again would be 
a whole lot of work with maybe limited benefit)
