I don't know anything really about LLVM, but did read recently the
comparison betweer GCC and LLVM under the latest FreeBSD. 20-30% faster
compiles, much less memory usage etc. But then FreeBSD really had no
choice, because GCC & GDB moved to GPLv3, which FreeBSD can't support.
Hence the default GDB is v6.x (luckily the ports collection has v7.x).
Whether it's related or not, FreeBSD seems to have

Um strange. FreeBSD recently announce they have added support for the
Raspberry Pi. That's not Intel.
