[fpc-pascal] COM automation

hi, i am very interested in using COM automation. off course it's a windows thing, and i havent been able to find anything like that already implemented for the fpc...
i am trying to migrate from delphi to lazarus, and i read about this COM automation with lazarus online. some say it's not possible because the FPC doesnt support it for some unknown reason, and others say it's just not implementes yet...
does anyone know something about that? or has anyone been able to automate windows processes via COM automation?

speciffically what i wanted to do is automate msoffice procedures, such as generating excel sheets and graphs...

is it just not possible? or is it just a matter of writing code?
