I tried that, but it didn't work.  Maybe shell-dependent; I use
/bin/bash on Mac OS X 10.3.9.

I notice that you also include -framework Carbon, so I tried that
as well.  But it did not help a bit.

Could it be related to versions of the various libraries?  E.g.,
it may require 10.4.x.

Still, I would like to know what is the matter.
