This will change with version 3 of .net, I looked at an article in the
german iX-magazine shortly and there was said it'll get some extensions
from functional languages and more (lazy typing, templates aka generics
and some more).

One day Microsoft will be in danger of getting split up like the Bell
company was. But that might take some decades ...
