Thank you very much for that - it sounds as if it will be very useful!

I'm wanting to do two things actually. One is to write a program that 
composes  think that the above will do that nicely. The other is to work 
at the rather less tractible problem of converting autio files to MIDI - 
not truly a soluble problem, but I'm actually interested in taking audio 
of whistling and converting that to MIDI, not polyphonic stuff.

I'll be working on a Mac.
