[fpc-pascal]Why is FP Win32 Version running and compiling muc h slower?

You are right- in general the win32 version runs more slowly on win9x than
the dos version. Dependent on the type of benchmarks the difference is up to
30%. Strangely this happens even for fp benchmarks eg fft or non fp
processor intensive code and which probably don't use memory management. We
don't really know why, the code being run is the same...

I haven't tried running the same win32 code on win2k on the same PC &
benchmarking it yet... but based on some runs suspect that it will still be
slower than dos on win9x aboutr the same as win32 on win9x.

My operating system is Windows 98. I found that the Win32 Version of F.P
runs much slower than DOS Version, no matter compiling or typing in
programs. What cause this difference? The Memory?

Except for the compiling mode and memory parametres, are there any other
greatest differences between win32 version and dos version?
