[fpc-pascal]Repeat: Problems with crashing graphics

Hi all...

Please forgive me, I'm resending this message from about a week
ago. I've done some more digging and can't find a solution or even
references. Am I doing something wrong here?

-----------------
I've been playing a bit with the Graph and SVGAlib libraries. I found
that, when calling the new modes, my comuter hangs completely with a
black screen. Not even Ctl-Alt-Del gets it out.

I'm using kernel 2.4.19, and Xfree 4.2.1. The graphics card is a
SiS300, updated with the last Drivers I found on the 'net.

I've tried the 'detection protocol' as described in the Graph docs,
to detect valid modes, and I've tried to single step my program to
check that the mode selected was signalled as valid.

Some of the old combinations, such as VGA/VGAHi work fine, but I
was really hoping for the newer hi-res modes.

Any suggestions on how to go on testing? Preferably avoiding the
red panic button on the machine?

John
