TurboPower has (had) a very nice unit for handling these. The code was
an extra with the Asych package. As far as I know it was freely
distributable. I didn't see their old ftp page when I looked at their
site just now but it might still be available. It would need to be
rewritten to remove the ObjectProfessional stuff (mostly linked list
stuff.) If you can't find it I can probably find a copy here somewhere.
I used it quite a bit in some programs.

Just looked and found it. I don't want to post it to the list -- it
screws up the digests. Let me know where I should send it. It will have
to be changed to remove the
TurboPower units. It uses OpString and OpRoot from ObjectProfessional.
