It's not my favorite option. There is a much better way to fight spam,
that is blocking servers with open mail relays. We used to run this but
since orbl is out of order we aren't protected anymore.

Most virusses are also blocked by setting a message size limit. It's easy
to stop diseases like Sircam this way. There are virusses however that do
not generate large e-mails.
