[fpc-pascal]Saving the screen

I saw a discussion about saving the screen, the part
of a screen or getting a character from a special position in the
mailinglist some time ago.
Is there some code available to do this?

Also i am searching some stuff about the following:
1. menusystem (Pulldown)
2. something about serial communication
3. stuff about GPIB (IEEE)

Oh, i forgott to say: everything must run under linux!

I will be verry thankful for every line of code i could get.
