This is of some interest to me -- I am a university teacher, and I
actively encourage
students to contribute to some FOSS project as a topic of their bachelor thesis.

In the past, my students participated in both FPC and
Hedgewars (I believe the student used nickname "mbait").

I am not suitable to the role of mentor in GSoC sense, since I am not
committer to
either of these projects, but I still can provide some help to my
students, if they choose to participate.
