I can suggest you to read 
http://www.freepascal.org/docs-html/prog/progch1.html#x5-40001 if you've 
not already found it. :)
The 2.6.0 documentation is not completely up to date regarding the 
directives, but the 2.6.2 one will be (see 
http://bugs.freepascal.org/view.php?id=21303 ).
