Looking over the Lazarus commit log, I noticed a small error on that  
page: the directive for pointer arithmetic is called {$pointermath on/ 
off}, not {$modeswitch cs_pointermath} (corrected in the mean time).

That switch is not specific to the JVM branch though: http://wiki.freepascal.org/User_Changes_2.6.0#The_POINTERARITHMETICS_mode_switch_has_been_replaced_with_the_POINTERMATH_directive
