I don't have a working Kylix 3 environment at the moment. IIRC dcc32 on Linux 
and Windows had about the same compiling performance.

Building MSEide with FPC fixes_2_4, about 366'000 lines:
Windows NTFS:
smartlink 50.4 sec
no smartlink 50.5 sec

Same machine Linux reiser FS:
smartlink 126 sec
no smartlink 62.7 sec.
