Problem is in 2 keywords IMHO

   1. Apache/2.2.4

      configuration of default site handling (w/o site: header field)
      and php scripts timeout

   2. Ubuntu
      (too hot and too new versions)
      As the Debianist I can say only - use STABLE, Luke
