I was "the person below", and I'd like to apologise, explain, and have a very
subdued rant.
First, an apology. Something went wrong in a script on our site and it bounced
messages. I'm sorry.
Second, an explanation. The reason things went wrong is that this list started
distributing messages with suspect Received: headers. These originated at
T-Online who apparently changed their email routing, the next time the only
member of this list who uses T-Online posted our business systems were knocked
out. Perhaps somebody would like to confirm that there is some RFC that
permits a machine name of about 110 characters in a Received: header?
Third, a rant. Our systems were knocked out at 16:00 one Saturday afternoon.
That was the first time we'd had an outage for about seven years. It's also
the first time for seven years that I was in a position that I couldn't get at
them and work out what was going on. I think people can probably work out for
themselves how I feel about that.
