But I want the code (i.e. the complete units) that in certain projects should run in the bowser to be able to run on a PC (or Mac or Linux), including the GUI (as long as same is simple enough to be displayed in all of them). This portability can be advantageous as well for complete projects as for re-usable units, and specifically for projects that sit on a server and distribute parts of the functionality when a browser attaches. 

But you might be right that this is not realistic :(
