Borland has done this before; for example I remember free Kylix and C++ =

downloads. The reason is simple: Amateurs help a lot in making a =

technology useable in the enterprise. This was the case with Turbo Pascal =

and Delphi, but is for example also true for other technologies like PHP.

With Turbo Pascal, they sold it for very friendly prices, often below 100 =

EUR. However, that was before the internet and the open source revolution.
They believe a free download is nowadays the best way to serve the amateur =

community.
